One day Boudreaux and Pierre decided to try a new fishin' spot over by Bayou La Fourche near Lacroix. Since it was so far from home dey decided not to bring deir old leaky pirogue, figuring dat dey could rent one when dey got to the landin'. Sure enough when dey got dere, dat landing had plenty of dem spare pirogue to rent out. Dey paid da tree dollar for da rental and set out to find a good fishin' spot.

Dey paddled around a few bend in da bayou before seeing what looked like a good spot. Dey started fishin' and immediately started catchin' some fine "sac au lait" (Sack-a-lay, white perch). After fishin' dere for a while and catchin' plenty of dem fishes dey decided to paddle on down aways to see if dey could catch some brims (brim). Before leaving Boudreaux said, "Pierre, mark dat spot, we might want to come back here nex' time," so Pierre did.

Dey paddled a few more bends and saw another spot dat looked like it might be a good brim hole. Sure enough, dey caught as many brims as dey wanted, so dey decided to try one more spot, but before leaving Boudreaux said, "Pierre, mark dat spot, we might want to come back here nex' time," so Pierre did.

Dey paddled down another bend or two before seeing what looked like a mighty fine spot. Dey started fishing and before the mosquito could draw blood started catching some nice "shoue pic"(shoe pick). "Dis is great" Pierre said, "Clorise can make us up some of dem fish balls." Soon dey had all da fish deir pirogue could hold so dey decided to go on back to da landing, but before leaving Boudreaux said, "Pierre, mark dat spot, we might want to come back here nex' time," so Pierre did.

Dey got back to de landing about dark, loaded up deir fishes and headed on back home. As dey wus drivin' home Bourdreaux asked, "Pierre how did you mark dem spots?" Pierre answered, " I put X's on the bottom of dat pirogue." "Pierre!," Boudreaux shouted, "We may not got dat same pirogue nex time!"
